The curriculum caters for all students and places them on the correct
individual pathway to achieve their full potential.
We suggest year 12 students’ study three A levels or BTEC equivalent. There will be 4/5 lessons per subject per week which is backed up by weekly academic mentoring sessions and a personal development curriculum.
Students are able to choose from a variety of A level subjects, some of which may include coursework, but all are examined at the end of Year 13.
They can also select from a range of BTEC subjects which are worth the same UCAS points as A levels and now include exams and coursework assignments.
Staff use a mixture of formative and summative assessments throughout the year to develop a clear picture of the progress students are making.
Assessments include completing questions in exam conditions to speaking and listening tests. Students also undertake mock exams throughout the year.
The partnerships between students and teachers and the school and parents/carers are crucial in ensuring students make progress. The progress reports issued six times a year allow meaningful conversations to take place. Parents and Carers Evenings and Meet Your Coach Days form part of this important communication.
