Wetherby High School fully appreciates the importance of providing high quality careers advice and guidance.

The Sixth Form team work hard with students to ensure they are placed on the most appropriate Post 16 study programme – enabling them to be successful in their studies and move onto their chosen Post 18 pathway.

Students are supported by weekly Academic Mentoring sessions, independent careers advisors, universities, and local employers who offer information and guidance as students are given time to research, plan and prepare for their future.

Our students are prepared for higher education, apprenticeships, employment and gap years.

There are events and activities that look at the local and hidden job market plus employment and university application and interview skills.

Students benefit from the wide range of placements that are offered within school and in the community. All Sixth Form students take up coaching roles and in Year 12 all students undertake one week’s work experience, towards the end of the summer term. These opportunities build confidence, resilience, character for achievement and employability skills.

Wetherby High School has links with both the Leeds and Harrogate hospitals where placements are arranged throughout the year. Students receive support through the regularly updated emails on Open days, course taster sessions, apprenticeships and employment.
